FAQ & support

What it does

What is SleeperLot, in one sentence?

It watches auctions in their last minutes and flags the ones closing well under what the same item costs to buy outright right now — then publishes every call it makes, so you can check whether it works.

Isn’t this just a cheap-listing finder?

No, and the difference is the whole product. A low price with forty bids on it is a correct price — the market already looked. What we want is thin bidding on an item we can independently value: low attention, not low price. Heavily-bid lots rank down, not up.

Why does it say “no estimate” on so many lots?

Because most auction titles cannot be priced by anyone — no model number, no brand, nothing that pins the item to a comparable. Our matching ladder has five rungs, and the bottom two (category-only, and no match at all) never produce an alert, whatever the apparent discount looks like. A false positive here costs you money rather than attention, so we would rather say nothing. That is why the decline rate is on the front page instead of buried.

Where do the numbers come from?

Public listing data, aggregated into per-item-class comparables. We keep three prices distinct and never blend them into one headline: what we predict the lot closes at, the cheapest credible Buy It Now ask for the same item, and a sold-based reference used for resale margin. The method page walks a single number through end to end.

Why a range with an n, instead of one price?

Because you win the auctions where your estimate was highest, so guidance taken off an average is guidance to overpay. Every figure is a range, the quoted reference is the cheap end of the credible asks rather than the typical one, and the n next to it is how many comparables sit behind the claim. Three is a weaker claim than forty, and we show which it is.

How often is it wrong?

An 80% interval is expected to miss about one close in five — by design, not by accident. Right now it is worse than that: across — scored closes the real price landed inside the predicted range — of the time, not 80%. The ranges are too narrow and the honest response is to say so here rather than to restate the target. The track record publishes every call against the real outcome, hits and misses and refusals together, sampled blind to price. If the published miss rate isn’t one you are comfortable with, don’t act on the estimates. See also the disclaimer.

Bidding

Will it bid or snipe for me?

Never. SleeperLot is read-only: it does not bid, schedule bids, snipe, or touch any marketplace account on your behalf, and it never will — automated bidding is banned by eBay’s user agreement. A human reads the page and a human places every bid.

Do I need to connect my eBay account?

No. There is nothing to connect. We only read public listing data, so we never ask for marketplace credentials — and you should be suspicious of anything that does.

Are you affiliated with eBay? Do you get paid when I buy?

SleeperLot is independent. eBay, ShopGoodwill and every other marketplace neither endorse nor sponsor it, and we are not their agent.

And no, nobody pays us when you buy. No link here is an affiliate link today. We intend to join the eBay Partner Network, which would pay us a small commission on a purchase made after following one of our links — at no extra cost to you. If that happens, this answer changes to say so, and you will see it in the footer of every page.

What matters more is what it does not change. A commission has no effect on which lots we show you or how they rank. eBay pays different rates by category, and that rate card is not allowed to reach any part of the code that decides what appears on the board or what triggers an alert — a test fails the build if it ever does. There is no sponsored slot, nothing is promoted because it pays better, and the track record is computed from what we published, with no tracking parameters in it.

Accounts and alerts

How do I sign in?

Three ways, all on the sign-in page: a magic link emailed to you, a passkey, or a password. Any one is enough — you don’t need to set up all three. If a magic link hasn’t arrived within a couple of minutes, check spam before requesting another.

Collector or reseller — which should I pick?

It decides which number leads on every card, because the two audiences are asking different questions of the same lot. A collector sees what the same item is listed for elsewhere — what you’d otherwise have paid. A reseller sees what’s left after eBay’s ~13% final-value fee and shipping — what you’d actually clear.

You get one of them, not both. A card showing both numbers answers neither question well, and the gap between them is a fee, not a discount. Pick whichever describes why you’re bidding; it is a display setting, and changing it on the account page re-labels every card immediately. The full derivation of both figures is in the method.

Where do alerts get delivered?

Email, Discord (a webhook or a bot DM), and web push to a phone or desktop browser. Add as many as you want under Notifications on your account page. On an iPhone, web push only works once the site is added to your home screen — iOS requires that, and the page walks you through it. There is also a QR handoff if you start on a desktop and want push on your phone. We do not send text messages.

Can I stop alerts arriving at 3am?

Yes. Set your timezone and one or more delivery windows, in half-hour steps, on the account page. No windows saved means anytime. Auctions close when they close, so a narrow window does mean fewer alerts reach you.

Why are seats capped per category?

Because alerting one quiet lot to a crowd is exactly how the discount it was flagging disappears. The cap exists so a lot is never shown to more people than it can survive. That, and not the price, is the real limit on how many users this can take.

What does a free account get me?

Yesterday’s closes — the full track record, which is enough to judge whether the scoring works before paying for anything. Paid plans see today’s, while the auction is still open.

Plans and billing

How do I pay?

You don’t yet. The pricing page publishes the tiers, and we email account holders when billing opens. Nothing is charged in the meantime, and no card is collected anywhere on this site.

What is the launch price?

While we launch, the first month of Pro is $1 and of Pro+ is $4, once per account. From the second month the plan renews at its regular price ($9 or $39 a month) until you cancel, and we email you five days before that first full-price charge so it is never a surprise. Referral rewards apply to full-price subscriptions only.

Can I cancel?

Whenever you want — billing is monthly with no lock-in, no minimum term and no cancellation fee, and access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. Payments already taken are non-refundable, except a period in which we failed to deliver the alerts you were entitled to; the billing terms say it exactly. To delete your account and its data outright, email us and it is done; see the privacy policy.

Data and privacy

What do you store about listings?

Aggregates only — an item class, a median, a sample size, a timestamp. Individual listings are not retained past their public-availability window, so we cannot show you an archive of closed lots, and won’t build one.

What do you store about me?

Your email, whatever profile fields you choose to fill in, a ZIP or postal code if you give one (to band shipping estimates — never a street address), your delivery channels and windows, and the alerts you were sent. The privacy policy lists it in full, including what we email you and what we never do with it.

Delete everything.

Ask on the support form and say so. You get a reference by email immediately, so you can see it landed. We answer within thirty days, usually far sooner.

Support

One place for everything — bugs, billing, deletion requests, a number that looks wrong, or a question this page didn’t answer: the support form. You do not need an account to use it, which matters most when the problem is that you cannot sign in. It emails you a reference you can quote back, and a person answers it.

Prefer plain email? support@sleeperlot.com reaches the same person. Either way, it is the only support channel: we will never message you asking for credentials or payment.

If you are reporting a score that looks wrong, pick “a number looks wrong” and the form asks for the listing link and roughly when you saw it. Those two are usually enough to reconstruct which comparables produced the number.
