Terms of use

Last updated 12 September 2026. Written to be read, not skimmed.

1. Who we are

SleeperLot is a project run by Luke Jones, an individual in Kentucky, United States. “We” and “us” below mean him. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. Contact: support@sleeperlot.com (or luke@sleeperlot.com, which reaches the same person). Deliberately a plain address and not the support form: a contact of record must not depend on a form being up.

2. Who may use it

You need to be at least 13 to have an account here. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian has to agree to these terms on your behalf, and only an adult may enter card details or hold a paid subscription — auctions cost real money and someone able to be responsible for that has to be the one paying. We do not knowingly hold an account for anyone under 13; if we find out we have one, we delete it. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under yours, so keep the sign-in link and any password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into it.

3. What the service is

SleeperLot is an information service. It publishes statistical estimates about auction listings: predicted closing prices, reference prices from active listings, and the difference between them, together with the sample size and confidence behind each estimate. It is read-only. It does not place bids, does not act on any marketplace on your behalf, and provides no mechanism to do so.

4. Estimates are estimates

All figures are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or merchantability. Our published track record is the only accuracy claim we make, and it is a measurement, not a promise. Read the disclaimer; it forms part of these terms.

5. Your responsibility

Every decision to bid, buy, or resell is yours alone. You are responsible for reading the listing, verifying the item, understanding the marketplace’s own terms, and for all costs and consequences of any transaction. We are not a party to any transaction between you and a seller or marketplace.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its estimates, including lost money on an auction, lost profit on a resale, missed opportunities, or errors and omissions in our data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, on a free account, is nil.

7. Paying, cancelling, refunds

An account is free, and having one is not a contract to buy. Prices are published on the pricing page, which is also where you can see whether paid seats are open. You are never charged without starting a checkout yourself and seeing, on that screen and before you confirm, exactly what will be taken now and what will be taken every month afterwards. These are the terms any subscription runs under:

8. Acceptable use

9. Third-party data and marks

Listing data originates from third-party marketplaces and is used under their published developer and site terms. We retain only aggregates and remove individual listing content once it is no longer publicly available on its source. eBay, ShopGoodwill, and other names are trademarks of their owners. We are independent of all of them: none of them endorses or sponsors this site, and we are not their agent.

Two details of that, stated plainly because “aggregates only” is otherwise easy to read as more than it is. First, our record of our own predictions outlives the listing it was about: it holds the marketplace’s item number, our numbers, and the version of the model that produced them — no title, image, description, price from the listing, or anything about the seller. That record is what makes a published track record possible at all, because it is what stops a past prediction being quietly restated after the fact. Second, an alert is delivered to wherever you asked us to send it. If that is Discord, the item’s title and link travel to Discord and are then subject to Discord’s handling, not ours.

10. How we are paid, and what it is not allowed to affect

Today we are paid by subscribers and by nobody else. No link on this site is an affiliate link, no marketplace or seller pays us, and we have never been paid for a click or for a purchase. We intend to join the eBay Partner Network, under which eBay pays a commission on a purchase made after following one of our links, at no extra cost to the buyer. If we do, this section is updated to say so, the date at the top changes, and a notice appears in the footer of every page. The commitment in the next paragraph applies either way.

Being paid does not affect what we show you. This is a commitment about how the software is built, not only about how we behave. Nothing that decides which lots are published, how they are ranked, or what triggers an alert may read a commission rate, a campaign identifier, or anything derived from either. Commission rates differ by category, and that difference is not permitted to reach any of those decisions. There is no sponsored placement, nothing is promoted because it pays better, and no tracking parameter is written into the data behind our published track record — any such parameter is added to a link as you click it, and never recorded. These are enforced by automated tests that fail our build, and the track record is public so the outcome is checkable from outside.

11. Waitlist and accounts

If you join the waitlist or create an account you give us an email address. We use it to run the account and deliver what you have asked for; we only send you announcements about new features and plans if you ticked the box for them when you signed up, and you can stop those at any time from the unsubscribe link in one or by asking us. Paid tiers are sold on the billing terms above, restated on the checkout page before you pay — there is no separate contract, and if the two ever disagree, the billing terms govern. Nothing here obliges us to launch any feature.

12. Changes to the site and to these terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time. We may also update these terms, and the date at the top tells you when we last did; continued use after a change is acceptance of it. Two limits on that, because “we can change the terms” is otherwise a licence to change the deal underneath someone who is paying. A change that materially reduces what a paid subscription gets, or that raises what it costs, is emailed to paying subscribers at least 30 days beforehand and does not apply to a period already paid for — cancelling instead is always an option, and the billing terms above say what happens then. Everything else — wording, clarifications, new features — takes effect when the page is updated.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Kentucky, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.

14. Ending it, from either side

You can stop using the site whenever you like, and you can have your account and everything attached to it deleted by asking on the support form or by email — you do not have to give a reason. If you are paying at the time, see the billing terms above for what happens to the period you have already paid for. We can suspend or close an account that is breaking the acceptable-use rules above, and we will say why unless doing so would itself cause a problem. The disclaimers, the limitation of liability, and the governing law survive the account ending, in both directions.

15. The small print that is genuinely small

If a court decides any part of these terms cannot stand, the rest still stands and only that part is treated as removed. If we do not enforce something straight away, that is not us giving it up permanently. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them if the project itself changes hands, and would say so first. These terms, together with the disclaimer and the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about the site, and replace anything said about it beforehand. Where they genuinely conflict, the more specific wording wins. We contact you at the email address on your account, so keep it one you actually read; you can reach us at support@sleeperlot.com, which is the address of record for anything formal.
